With a Ph.D. in literature and a ravenous curiosity, I like to ask offbeat questions about  food, culture, and books. I've written for NPR, Saveur, and the Washington Post as well as creating the The Kitchn's Food and Ritual column. My first book Eat Feed Autumn Winter was named one of the Best Books of the year by Epicurious.

Invested in finding new ways for scholars to engage the wider world, in 2005 I launched one of the earliest podcasts, Eat Feed. Saveur called it the “finest way to take your food on the road.” I occasionally lecture and teach on drama and new media. I'm currently developing a collaborative sound project that asks listeners to hear their food differently.
